Errors in particle tracking velocimetry with high-speed cameras.
Velocity errors in particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) are studied. When using high-speed video cameras, the velocity error may increase at a high camera frame rate. This increase in velocity error is due to particle-position uncertainty, which is one of the two sources of velocity errors studied here. The other source of error is particle acceleration, which has the opposite trend of diminishi...
متن کاملReal-time image compression for high-speed particle tracking.
High-speed particle tracking with digital video creates very large data rates and as a result experimenters are forced to make compromises between spatial resolution, temporal resolution, and the duration over which data is acquired. The images produced in particle tracking experiments typically contain a large amount of black space with relatively few bright pixels and this suggests the possib...
متن کاملVolumetric velocity measurements of vortex rings from inclined exits
Vortex rings were generated by driving pistons within circular cylinders of inner diameter D = 72.8 mm at a constant velocity U0 over a distance L = D. The Reynolds number, U0L/(2m), was 2500. The flow downstream of circular and inclined exits was examined using volumetric 3-component velocimetry (V3V). The circular exit yields a standard primary vortex ring that propagates downstream at a cons...
متن کاملSom Based Particle Matching for Volumetric Particle Tracking Velocimetry
Novel 3D image analysis and particle matching techniques for the use in the volumetric particle tracking velocimetry have been developed and tested by using synthetic images and experimental images of unsteady 3D flows. A tomography based particle reconstruction scheme along with the subsequent process of individual particle detection and validation was used. The detected particles in the two t...
متن کاملHigh Speed Trash Measurements
This paper discusses the identification of trash objects in cotton using machine vision-based systems. Soft computing techniques such as neural networks and fuzzy inference systems can classify trash objects into individual categories such as bark, stick, leaf, and pepper trash types with great accuracies. High speed trash measurements, enables the implementation of these techniques for on-line...
